The Big Picture is a massive project to put together a photo album for the West Midlands, compiled by those who live and visit the area. The aim is to have 100,000 pictures submitted which will be used to produce the worlds largest photo montage (currently reached almost 9% of target). Although supported and sponsored by organisations such as the BBC, Arts Council England (West Midlands), Travel West Midlands and Jessops, those behind it are well known in the Birmingham blogging/arts community, for example the online editor is Jon Bounds (from Birmingham: It’s Not Shit) and the site was built by Stef Lewandowski (who also runs the tech side at Created in Birmingham).
Adding photos to the project is simple, for example just tag the picture with ‘bigpicture2008′ in Flickr. Alternatively you can upload directly or email from a camera phone.
So here are some of the ones I’ve added recently (all taken in Birmingham):

Yanno, I really need to rinse my mind because it’s dirty. That last photo just reminded me of the Penn statue in Philadelphia. It’s all about the angles.
